Boy, do we miss travelling.
The excitement of planning a trip, packing a bag, and leaving all your worries behind even for just a day or two – there’s nothing quite like it. And well, for obvious reasons, many of us haven’t felt those travel butterflies in a while.
But after many, maaany hours (more than we’d like to admit), of looking through old photos and reminiscing on mask-free & quarantine-free plans, we tried to find ways to kick that travel itch right here in Abu Dhabi.

Are you attracted to thrilling activities like a moth to a flame? Well, you’re in the right place – because Abu Dhabi’s deserts make for the ultimate dune bashing experience that will test the limits of even the bravest daredevils. And while you can conquer the Arabian Desert in pretty much any of the Emirates, Abu Dhabi’s are known for their much steeper dunes – ergo: steeper challenges. Whether you prefer the safety of a 4x4 or the rush of going full throttle on your very own quad bike, you can always get your adrenaline fix on a desert safari. Abu Dhabi’s beaches are known for their pristine swimming waters. But what many don’t know is that their sea-life and colorful reefs make for exciting underwater activities like scuba-diving and snorkeling. The reefs in Saadiyat Island and Sir Baniyas Island are two favorites, where you’ll be sure to see dolphins, turtles, barracudas, and countless other species that will take your breath away (don’t worry, you’ll have an oxygen tank in case that happens). You’ll feel like you’re on a tropical island before you even know it.

Forget normal travel – how about time travel? If you have a keen interest in history and discovering the secrets of the past, this one’s for you. Built over two centuries ago, Qasr Al Hosn is the oldest standing and most cherished structure in Abu Dhabi. It was home to ruling families and government councils, and is now a monument of Abu Dhabi’s transformation from tents to skyscrapers over the past 200 years. After years of conservation and restoration efforts, it reopened as a museum which currently houses artefacts from as far back as 6000 BC. Qasr Al Hosn is a memory frozen in time, one that illustrates the city’s transformation from a fishing and pearling settlement to the giant metropolis it has now become.
