Foodie’s Travel Guide
Everyone has their own palette and preferences, so putting together a list of the best destinations for foodies was not an easy mission. However, we managed to pick some experiences that you don’t want to miss!
Raise your hand if you’ve ever parked your car and came back to find a scratch, dent, or – if you’re as unlucky as I am – a cracked windshield waiting for you 🙋♂️.
Living in densely populated areas like Sharjah, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi comes with many perks – like restaurants and cafes staying open past midnight. But one downside is that your car is likely to take an unknown hit while parked during its lifetime, be it someone backing into it and driving away or opening their car door and scratching yours.
In my case, my car was the unfortunate recipient of a hurled glass candle from a balcony in the building it was parked next to. What resulted was a giant crack in my windshield and a quick google search on how to file a police report.
To save you some time and many potential frantic searches, here’s what you need to do if you ever find yourself in a similar situation:
Before you do anything – and I mean anything – you need to file a police report. As per UAE law, any accident must be reported to the police, regardless of how big or how small. Even accidents that occur while your car is parked require a police report. If the damage to your car is so bad that you can’t drive it to the nearest police station – call 999 and they will come right to you. P.S. If you’re in Dubai, you can use the Dubai Police App to file the police report.
While you wait for the police to arrive, make sure to snap a few photos of the damage to your car, since this will probably be a requirement for filing an insurance claim (we’ll get to that in a second). Make sure to take photos from different angles so that it’s easier to determine the extent of the damage. Take close-up photos and photos from further away – you never know what your insurance provider might need. Remember, when it comes to this: more is more.
Nowww you can finally file an insurance claim and get the process of fixing your beloved car started. Give your insurance provider a call or drop them an email informing them of the incident. Depending on your specific policy + the extent of the damage to your car, your insurer will let you know whether or not they can cover the cost of repair. For the most part, comprehensive policies should include accidental damage to your car.
To file a claim, make sure to have these things ready:
Fun fact: Our Beema comprehensive policies cover the cost of accidental damage to your car, as long as you have a police report. So, hurry up and get your Beema policy now before someone decides to, well… throw a candle at your windshield. Without car insurance, I would’ve had to pay over AED 3,000 to get my windshield repaired 💸.
Moral of the story: get your car insured not because it’s necessary, but because it’s the smart thing to do for your car, your peace of mind, and let’s be honest – your wallet too.
